Okay - you've been waiting. We went to Mom and Dad's for Christmas dinner. About 12:30, Doug left to get the "surprise". When he returned, I called all of our children into the living room and in walks their Aunt Cheryl from Kansas. Sorry, I didn't catch the look on Sarah's face, but it was ultimate surprise. The children absolutely love their aunt. She doesn't get to visit us very often and never before at Christmas. She will be going with us to Odessa tomorrow.

I will not be able to post anything until we get back from our trip to Odessa so I'll probably be publishing a book when we return!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year. And yes, we will most likely do fireworks so we'll try to be careful!

Christmas Eve

I woke up this morning at 5:47 and Doug was not up. I thought he had to work today so I woke him up since he's supposed to leave the house at 6:15. He told me it was okay - he was off today. What a wonderful surprise. Doug is now officially off until Jan 5. So - let the celebration begin.

Doug has already left the house to go buy his Christmas present. I couldn't buy it this year because of what it is. He's wanted one for many years, but I was very much against it in the past. I had a change of heart earlier this year and that's all it took. Wouldn't you like to know??!! No - it's not a pet or a TV!

We are doing our traditional Christmas Eve dinner today - tamales, beans, spanish rice and homemade cookies. We make and decorate cookies every year when we're at home on Christmas Eve.

Tomorrow we will celebrate Christmas by going to my parents. We have a major suprise planned for our children. You'll have to read tomorrow's post to find out though!

Have a blessed Christmas Eve!

What is Christmas to You?

What is Christmas to You?
Is it presents?
Is it lights?
Is it a tree?
Is it Santa?
Is it reindeer?
Is it music?
Is it a star?
Is it a birth?
Is it a Saviour?

What is Christmas to you? I want to make sure my children know what Christmas really is. Yes, we love to get presents and see the pretty trees all lit up. My children even love Santa movies. But I want them to realize that we're not celebrating Dec 25th for anything other than the birth of our precious Lord and Saviour - Jesus.
For unto us is born this day in the city of David, a Saviour which is Christ the Lord.
Jesus is our only reason to celebrate Christmas.
That being said, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
